Ebola Virus outbreak
The latest outbreak is the sixth since the turn of the millennium but this particular strain is the first in a decade. Uganda last reported an outbreak of Sudan ebolavirus in 2012. However, the last Ebola outbreak was registered in 2019 following a spillover from the neighboring Democratic Republic of the Congo which at the time was battling a large epidemic of the Zaire ebolavirus in its northeastern region.
