HEPS-Uganda was part of a civil society meeting with the General top Management of National Medical Stores on Monday this week. Among the issues raised in the meeting with the NMS General Manager is the row between Ministry of Health and NMS over why low level health facilities continue to have medicine stock outs despite the full inventory at the National Medical Stores. The General Manager committed to facilitate a process of improving the capacity of health facility staff who are involved in requisitioning and quantification of medicines, so as to minimize on the stock outs. He acknowledged that there is a big disconnect between the quantification teams at health facilities and the NMS. The Civil society team was led by PATH Uganda.
